A new EU project has been launched for the creation of a pan-European knowledge network for resilient infrastructures: EU-CIP

European Knowledge Hub and Policy Testbed for Critical Infrastructure Protection (EU-CIP)

FSTechnology and 20 other partners from across the EU joined forces and launched a new project under the three-year Horizon Europe programme with almost €2 million in investments to support policy makers in the definition and development of evidence-based policies, while strengthening the innovation capacity of critical infrastructure (CI) operators, authorities and innovators (including SMEs).

The EU-CIP project, European Knowledge Hub and Policy Testbed for Critical Infrastructure Protection, officially kicked off on 19-20 October 2022 in Rome in the presence of project officer (European Commission) Juuso Stenfors, representatives of partner organisations and members of the Advisory Committee. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the contributions of the different partners in relation to their areas of expertise and to review the objectives and structure of the project.

FSTechnology will be involved for coordination and support activities given its expertise in the field validation of CIP solutions and as a representative of the railway world. In addition, FSTech will contribute to information collection and analysis activities, as well as ecosystem creation and innovation support activities. It will focus on aspects related to the transport and railways sector.

EU-CIP will leverage the capacity, organisation, community and results of the ECSCI cluster to create a Europe-wide knowledge network with advanced analytical and innovation support capabilities. To facilitate the collection and analysis of information, the project will establish a FAIR data observatory on research projects and their results, technologies, standards and policies. EU-CIP will therefore offer:

  • Analytical capabilities for evidence-based policies.
  • Innovation support services for EU projects and other innovators in the field of critical infrastructure security and resilience, including training, support for business planning and access to funding, as well as support for the validation, standardisation and certification of new solutions.
  • A Knowledge Hub, which integrates and shares all project results with an ecosystem of over 1000 stakeholders.

EU-CIP will also organise an annual conference on Critical Infrastructure Resilience, to be held every September in Brussels, Belgium. The project partners aim to make this event a flagship event for critical infrastructure.
